Can we see the Northern lights at Inni?
This is a question we often get. From as early as the end of August and until April there is a good chance of seeing this phenomenon of nature in Iceland. However, you also need clear dark skies, favorable activity from the sun, patience and some luck to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). And the answer is yes, our guests often see the Northern Lights from outside our apartments or when relaxing in the hot tubs. In general it is best to get to an area where there is little light pollution and where you have a wide view of the Northern sky ... as you never know where or when the lights might pop up. From Inni it is e.g. only a few minutes drive towards the shore. In that area it is easy to find safe places to park, where you will have a wide view and no city lights.
Tourist Information Center - experience an earthquake!
At the Tourist Information Center (few steps from the Geothermal park) you can seek for further information on Hveragerði and the surrounding area. At the center you can also step into a simulator and experience an earthquake on the same scale as the one that hit the town in 2008 (6.3 Richter). In that same earthquake a new hot spring area broke through the ground. It is situated on the hillside above the town where you can also walk around. (Address: Breidamork 21, Hveragerði)
