Ideal base for exploring the South of Iceland
Inni - Boutique apartments are situated in the geothermal town Hveragerði, only a 45 km drive from the city of Reykjavík and 85 km from the international airport in Keflavík. Hveragerði is an ideal base for exploring both the city of Reykjavík and all the great sights in the South of Iceland. It is perfect to plan a daytrip from Inni apartments and visit the Golden circle sights of Þingvellir National Park (54 km) Gullfoss waterfalls (81 km) and Geysir hotspring (71 km). Another ideal daytrip is a drive along the South-West shore and stop e.g. at Seljalandsfoss (83 km) and Skógafoss (108 km) waterfalls and Reynisfjara black beach (138 km).
Reykjadalur - Hot river valley trail
There are plenty of hiking options in and around the town, and at the apartment you will find a map with walking routes in the area. Reykjadalur is the most popular hike in the area. It is about a 1-1,5 hour 3 km walk uphill to the valley, where you can bathe in a hot spring river and relax after the quite steep walk. Before or after taking the bath, you should walk 5-10 min further up the valley and explore the beautiful Klambragil canyon with bubbling hot natural hot springs. From Inni apartments is only around 3 km drive to the trail-head.
Geothermal Park
In the middle of the town - and only a 5 minutes walk from Inni - there is geothermal area that is securely fenced off. It is open for visitors all year round. Don't miss the chance of tasting a fresh steam baked rye-bread and boiling eggs in a hot spring. (You can buy eggs at the place.) At the Tourist Information Center (few steps from the Geothermal park), you can step into a simulator and experience an earthquake on the same scale as the one that hit the town in 2008 (6.3 Richter). In that same earthquake a new hot spring area broke through the ground. It is situated on the hillside above the town where you can also walk around.
